Introduction
Occupational
Health and Safety (OHS) is a major responsibility of all workers.
The possibility of serious injury and even death as the result of
a workplace accident cannot be over looked.
Establishing and maintaining Occupational Health and Safety standards
in a workplace is one of the most important aspects to a manager's
job. The law places a large part of the responsibility for workers'
safety on their supervisors and/or managers. Under the various health
and safety Acts failing to provide a reasonable level of safety
in a workplace could attract fines and/or imprisonment.
Under the law, providing and maintaining a safe working environment
should be a priority. This safety responsibility is as important
as any other role or function that a manager may be required to
meet.
