Assess and Confirm the Need for Training

One of the first steps that we need to consider prior to delivering a training program is to identify if a need exists. Therefore a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) must be conducted.

A TNA ascertains the gap between the current skills of staff and the skills required to perform a task to a standard expected by the organisation.

Taking this a step further, when you see what is currently happening then look at what should be happening the gap (or need) is evident. Subsequently training could be used to close this gap.
